Jessica & Tommy Memorial Fund For Jay Jenkins

Dear Friends,

We are writing this with heavy hearts. On Thursday, April 30, Jay Jenkins was involved in a terrible accident while driving home from work.  EMS first responders were on the scene and hospital staff did everything that they could to save him. Tragically, Jay did not survive the incident and passed away on May 1st, 2020.  Jay leaves behind his wife Jessica (Fricke) Jenkins and a beautiful 7-week-old baby boy Thomas Jeffrey Jenkins.

Jay and Jess met at East Stroudsburg University in 2005 and shortly afterwards they knew that they found a soulmate in each other.  They were married in 2016, and with their hard work and devotion, they purchased their first home soon after. Their blessings did not stop there.  Seven weeks ago, another one of their dreams came true when Jess gave birth to their first child Tommy.  Both Jess and Jay were over the moon with joy.

Little Tommy was born during the COVID-19 crisis which limited the visitors that they could have.  Although they were disappointed that no one could visit and hold the baby, they had family and friends visit the house to meet him for the first time through a closed window from their front porch.  Anyone who visited or spoke to Jess and Jay saw how happy they both were, feeling like they finally got everything they wanted, and life was perfect.  While Jay was only a father for 7 short weeks, his love for Tommy was immeasurable.  You could just hear it in his voice, feel it when in his presence, see it in his face and in the pictures, he posted of his little boy.  They were supposed to spend the rest of their lives loving each other, and he certainly spent the rest of his loving them.

Jay, a Pennsylvania native, was one of four children. His siblings all saw Jay’s heart of gold and loving nature was most reflective of his mother, Linda, and he was just like his dad, Thomas, with his stubborn and thrifty qualities. Among many things, Jay was a pool shark and poker king who enjoyed riding his dad’s Harley and had a love for classic rock. Some of Jay’s favorite memories were spending the 4th of July at the pond in the summer and ice skating there in the winter, along with vacations with the Dickenson family. Jay was an animal lover and all respected and loved everything in nature.  He had a passion for birding and spent countless hours observing birds in their natural habitat, aptly earning the nickname, Jay Bird.

No one will ever forget the man with the easygoing, childlike spirit and goodness. And the prankster with the devilish grin and funny nicknames. And the giver of bear-like hugs that would help anyone who needed him. Jay was a genuinely kind soul with an infectious personality, and he could brighten any room just by walking in one. He loved every second of life and the people in his unconditionally. He’ll be terribly missed by so many.

At this time, we would like to support Jessica and Tommy and ask that you consider making a donation to this GoFundMe effort. Please know that any donation amount will be greatly appreciated with 100% of the funds raised going directly to Jess and Tommy to assist with funeral and interment costs, medical bills, cost of living expenses and Tommy future educational aspirations. We would greatly appreciate if you could also share this with your network of family and friends.

Alternatively donations can also be made directly to Jessica via Venmo:
