Hello, My Name Is Jesse Saucedo. Thanks for taking the time to read a bit more about my life story.
My sister Tina was born on June 17, 1965 and I was born soon after in March of 1967. In 1970 my single mother left us both with a babysitter and never came back. The babysitter eventually left us and we were found going door to door asking for food. We were put in a foster home until they located our next of kin. When my father was notified, he left Sacramento and traveled to Los Angeles with the hope of getting my sister and I. Unfortunately the court only allowed him custody of me and not my sister. This court ruling prevented me from growing up with my sister and I have not seen her in 45 years.
Fast forward to September of 2013 - I’m busy working as a truck driver and helping my girlfriend raise our two daughters when, out of the blue, I was diagnosed with Laryngeal Cancer (throat cancer). I underwent evasive surgery to remove my Larynx(voicebox) and received radiation & chemotherapy treatments to combat the cancer. Once I held up from the radiation and chemotherapy I was given a prosthetic insert in my throat allowing me to speak again and allowed to return to work in November of 2014. One month later I was driving my semi truck in a dangerous high wind area. The 100mph winds and empty trailer made me an easy target for a high wind roll over. After the crash, I was sent to the emergency room for a CAT scan of my head and chest. During the scan the doctor noticed an area of concern in my left lung that he wanted my oncologist back home to look into. He gave me a disc with the CAT scan images on it to pass on to my doctor. Two days later I was put back to work.
In February I was able to get back to my regular doctor, who viewed the disc and ordered more tests and scans. By then it was March and my doctor handed me a diagnosis of lung cancer. Shortly after that I went through several more tests and an MRI of my brain. The most recent diagnosis is lung cancer in both lungs, hip bone cancer, and brain cancer. All metastasized from my original throat cancer. The doctor said there is not much they can do but slow it down with surgeries to remove my tumors and chemotherapy combined with radiation.
Due to this shocking news, I posted on Facebook in hopes of finding my mother and sister to reconnect before my illness got the better of me. Holly Hill Looman,a former classmate, went to work helping me and soon found my mother and sister. Unfortunately, she found that my Mother had passed away in 1988 but the great news is that my sister is alive and well and living in Los Angeles!
I want to reunite with her as soon as I have the funds to do so, as well as introduce her to my daughters, Payton (12 years old), and Sophia (10 years old). My sister has daughters of her own that we are looking forward to meeting as well. Though I’ve had a number of obstacles in my life, I remain optimistic and focused on having some awesome memories with my daughters, my sister and her family during my remaining time here. I would like to take us all to Disneyland and spend some good quality time getting to know each other before I get any sicker. My doctors have given me a year, maybe more if the radiation and chemotherapy slow down the growth of the tumors. I want to thank anyone who is willing to help out. Your contribution will help me give my two daughters some lasting memories before I go. Thank you for your time, help, and prayers. God bless.
