Jesse's Veterinary and recovery fun

Okay I will do my best to tell you about Jesse;
A year ago in April I heard about this Doberman that had been tied to a tree for two years a little over actually.
The leash and tie was a little under 7 feet long and over the time before he could finally be freed, he was teased by children and he was injured many times by other dogs as he could not fight back. Because of that he is covered in scars from all of these attacks, when I received him he had worms, he weighed 37 pounds, as well as some infections on the wounds, he could not stand up for more than a few moments at a time, you could literally see every single bone in his body and his coat was so dull he looked gray rather than black.
Because he was tied with a collar and all the jerking over his forming years he has permanent damage to vertebrae C 3 and 4.
When I heard of him, he was in a kill shelter and they felt that because of all of his health issues at the time and they felt that he would have temperament problems because of all the things that happened to him during his formative years he was going to be euthanized; I immediately flew to Bakersfield and picked him up and brought him home and started his road to recovery.
I started by feeding him 5 meals a day, very small portions of course, normally with many dogs personalities change as if they start becoming stronger, I was expecting the worst from Jessie, thinking he would become very aggressive and grouchy with not just other dogs but people as well, but this never came to be, Jessie was so loving with everybody, humans other dogs it didn't matter he was just absolutely the most affectionate dog I've ever met and still is.
His healing process went what I would consider very quickly, as a vet tech I kept a close eye on everything he did, he did have some nervousness and would chew on the end of his tail till it would bleed, as well as his paws, but that went away in short order as soon as he realized that he was safe and secure he blossomed, he gained 30 lbs, his coat shine in fact it was so shiny it looked blue black, his chilling immediately stopped and as soon as he could walk and even jog a bit I started taking him with me to the park with my group of dogs.
He swam for the first time and loved it so much I could barely keep them out of the water, he'd roll in the grass and as he got his muscle tone back he began running and running and running, sometimes he would fall but he would just roll over and jump back up and keep running and that is his personality he doesn't give up he's got more heart than any dog I've ever known.
Did I mention he's the best ratter I've ever known, that's right he can catch rats like a preschooler can catch a cold, the only reason I haven't placed Jessie is because everything that he's gone through I worry about a human making the kind of commitment that Jessie deserves.
Last week when we were at the dog park he decided to see what was going on at the shy dog area and ran to the top of the hill, I was with the other dogs at the bottom of the hill we were picking up poop, all of a sudden Jesse came rushing back down the hill and his girlfriend ran over to him and nuzzled him when she turned back to me her face was covered in blood and I looked at Jessie and there was a pool of blood forming quickly below his neck, I didn't stop to see what was going on I picked him up and started running for the gate with my other dog's close behind when we got to the truck I took a look and could see that at a minimum some vessel had been nicked, we went through three towels on the way to the emergency, that literally they were dripping blood they went from White two solid red.
He had to have two transfusions and lots of fluids he has a few layers of sutures and his neck was in a brace for 3 days to make sure that the sutures didn't loosen or tear the vessel he did indeed have a cut in the jugular vein, although I'm a vet tech I must say, that I am not used seeing that kind of quantity of blood when you're not in the middle of surgery, was fairly amazing Jesse has been nonplussed throughout the entire event, he wants to play with his friends and doesn't understand why he can't go to the dog park right now, the other dogs have calm down now too, as when we took him to the emergency vet the dogs were so upset they were all crying and none of them ate dinner or breakfast.
When I brought Jesse home, it was like they had just seen a bag of dog food for the first time everybody's back to normal now I can't wait for Jesse to be able to go for a swim and then off to the park thank you everybody for your love and support and let's try to remember that this was one bite it's very possible that the owner of the dog whomever it was had no idea it even occurred I'm the first human to be grouchy towards people but again I'd like to think that the person did not know it happened love to everybody from Jesse the Resilient!!!!
