My wife Jesse Jane Rankin is a 3 x Breast cancer Survivor. She has been battling since 2008. When Jesse was just 24 years old. 17 years later I am amazed to be able to say that she is in remission to best of our knowledge. Having her recent Nuclear Bone Scan, Breast M.R.I, Cat Scan, chest abdomen, and pelvis scan show negative for any cancer reoccurence. Recently she developed staff infection in the scar tissue of her Right breast chest wall where she had a masectomy. Her chest scar started swelling causing inflammation. The inflammation caused her scar to stretch leaving a dime sized hole, with slight leakage. She then developed a fever, and went to the emergency. Jesse spent a few days in the hospital, and received intravenous antibiotics. Since leaving the hospital she has had a fever everyday. We continue to battle to keep her temperature down. Unfortunately a couple days after leaving the hospital the seroma build up in her chest exploded/leaked out. Turning the dime size hole into a larger hole. Due to radiation the skin can't repait itself, as the hole will only get bigger. She has to have emergency surgery in Portland at OHSU hospital. It is the closest place that has the skilled surgeons to preform this operation. They are preparing everything this week. This is shocking and unexpected. It is a very serious matter. There will be so many expenses. I can't begin to name them all. Even though this battle has been so hard, we expect nothing less than a full recovery. Jesse's battle has been a part of us all.
