As many of you may already be aware, our sons are both transgender. As parents, it is difficult to witness our children struggle and watch them feel uncomfortable in their own skin; however, it does not compare to the pain they have each personally endured throughout their lives.
Last year, Andrew had his life-changing surgery that has allowed the person on the outside to reflect the person he has always been on the inside.
2018 is Jesse’s year! Jesse has been medically transitioning for almost five years now. Jesse will be traveling to Florida to take the next step in his transition—Female to Male (FTM) Top Surgery. After surgery, Jesse will need to remain in Florida for a week at a recovery center/retreat.
The FTM Top Surgery and the recovery center are not covered by insurance. Furthermore, once returning home, there is an additional extensive six-week recovery period. During his recovery, Jesse will be unable to drive. Since Jesse drives for a living, this means he will be out of work for a minimum of six weeks.
Jesse has been working extra shifts to prepare for the surgery costs while also saving for his normal monthly bills; however, he will require additional financial support to make his dream a reality.
Susan and I are humbly asking our family and friends to please help our son's dream come true of looking in the mirror and seeing the person he sees inside reflecting back at him. All donations, small or large, will be greatly appreciated! Every dollar counts!
