Howdy!
My brother Jesse Varner has had a condition his whole life called Pectus Excavatum, which means his breastbone is sunken into his chest. He's had a "hole" in his chest since birth, and his is classified as severe. A doctor recently recommended surgery to correct the flattening/ compression of his heart, because it is interfering with the function of his heart and lungs. The older he gets the more serious the condition and surgery, which is why he wants/needs to take care of this now.
Only 1 in 320 people get some type of this condition. They say it can be hereditary, but I don't think we know anyone with this condition.
Using the Nuss procedure, they're going to use 2 curved metal bars to reshape his chest out. They will also be removing a cyst from his heart. (After two-four years, the bars will eventually be removed from his chest).
The surgery is set for Monday December 3rd at University Hospital in Downtown Cleveland- Lerner Tower, and his expected discharge date is December 6th, with almost 2 months of home recovery before returning to work and a paycheck.
As a Solar Panel Technician at YellowLite, he's considered an independent contractor with no medical benefits. His individual insurance plan comes with a very high deductible, so I wanted to help get him back on his feet as soon as possible, no pun intended.
Please join me in donating to this awesome cause for a wonderful brother, uncle, nephew, friend, boyfriend.. you name it. To know him is to love him! We are all a little nervous as this seems pretty invasive, but with everyone's support and love I know he'll be just fine, health-wise and financially.
Thanks so much!!
