On September 28, 2021, Jesse Schaffer passed away. He was a light to his family, a protector of his community, a servant of his country, and a joy to his friends.

JESSE’S LIFE
Jesse was born on August 18, 1993 in Kettering, Ohio to Robert and Sherry Schaffer. He and his brother Jonathan were homeschooled by their single mother and faithfully attended Kettering Adventist Church. Always curious and creative, Jesse joined the church’s puppet team and shared his musical talents with the orchestra. He went on to attend Spring Valley Academy throughout middle and high school, playing on the school’s various sports teams and lighting up every classroom with his contagious smile. In addition to his studies, Jesse set his mind to improving his health; religiously hitting the gym and focusing on self improvement. Nothing could deter Jesse, and by the time he graduated in 2011, his time in the gym had clearly paid off - even competing in bodybuilding competitions!

After attending Southern Adventist University, Jesse took that unbreakable determination to the U.S. Marine Corp, where he served until his honorable discharge in May of 2020. In 2019, Jesse married the love of his life, Renee Depoy, and took on the new role of fatherhood to their two beautiful children, Avery and Maeve. Jesse continued to serve in his community as a firefighter, a highway patrol officer, and finally as a public safety officer for the City of Oakwood.

ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER

Your generous donations will help in covering the funeral costs and assisting with the living expenses of Jesse’s mother, Sherry, during this difficult time. Sherry has sacrificed so much as a single mother to raise her sons, and we would like to take the opportunity to now help her.
If we can raise enough money, we would like to pay for ongoing counseling for his mother during this traumatic time.

This Go Fund Me is managed by Jesse’s brother, Jonathan Schaffer, and friend, Kevin Christenson. All funds will be deposited into an account operated by Jonathan Schaffer.
