Dear Family, Friends and Community Members,
My name is Mercedes Mesa Miller, I am writing to you on behalf of my Dad, Jesse Cabrera Mesa. For the past 35 years, my dad has dedicated his life to serving the people of the CNMI as a firefighter, and more recently, as Fire Chief. He has always been the one to run toward danger when others are running away, offering his strength, courage, and unwavering commitment to protect our community. Today, however, my dad is facing his own emergency call, and it is now our time to respond.
Not long ago, my dad suffered a minor heart attack. It was a terrifying wake-up call, reminding us how fragile life can be. While we are endlessly grateful that it wasn’t more severe, his doctors have informed us that he urgently needs life-saving surgery to prevent severe health complications. As we navigate this difficult time, the medical bills are accumulating faster than we could have ever anticipated, and the weight of this financial burden is becoming too heavy for our family to carry alone.
My dad has always been our rock—the person who held us together through thick and thin, just as he has done for so many in our community. Now, in his time of need, we find ourselves in a position we never imagined: asking for help.
The cost of his treatment and the necessary surgery is overwhelming, and despite all our efforts, we simply cannot cover these expenses by ourselves. It is with great humility and deep emotion that we are reaching out to ask for your support. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward ensuring my father receives the care he needs to continue living the life he loves.
If you’ve had the chance to meet my dad, you know that he is a fighter, someone who has always faced life’s challenges head-on. But even the strongest of us need help from time to time. We understand that everyone is facing their own struggles, and if a financial contribution isn’t possible, we ask for your prayers, your well wishes, and for you to share our story with others who might be able to help.
From the very bottom of our hearts, we thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer. Your kindness and generosity means the world to us, and they will help ensure that my dad can continue to be the hero he has always been—not just for our family, but for the entire community he so deeply loves.
With all our love and gratitude,
Mercedes Miller and the Mesa Family
