Dear family and friends,
Many of you already know that I've been struggling with chronic illness for 16 years. It has been painful and challenging, and yet I am proud to say that I am still here and am now using my 16 years of suffering as a base of deep wisdom so that I can serve others in my community with chronic physical and emotional pain.
In the last few months a major life change has occurred: I finally got a diagnosis for Lyme's disease (after 16 years of carrying it), Unfortunately, With the new diagnosis comes long-term treatment that is mostly not covered by insurance (as mainstream medical care does not recognize chronic Lyme's disease). I have been administering intravenous antibiotics and will soon be getting a picc line under the supervision of Gordon Medical Associates in Santa Rosa. Because this medical treatment will not be covered by my insurance, I have to pay everything out-of-pocket. So far I have been putting it on a credit card in hopes that it will all work out.
I believe that I am already seeing the benefits of antibiotics, particularly in my joints (I recently went to see an orthopedic regarding my knee pain to which he replied that there was nothing wrong with my knees mechanically to explain such severe pain). Living daily with chronic pain and fatigue is unbelievably hard and I look forward to a day when I can suffer a bit less. I am hoping to raise money so that I can pay for this medical treatment so that I feel better and can more effectively serve others.
I am currently planning free/donation-based accessible yoga classes for low income families and individuals (like myself) specializing in trauma and chronic pain. I finally see that I am a wounded healer and that the way I can be of service and create social change (that is sustainable and accessible for myself) is through healing justice.
With your donations I will be able to continue treatment for Lyme's disease and be of service!
Below is the breakdown of the cost I am trying to raise money for:
Hep lock x 2: $650
PICC line x 1: $800
Doctors fee x 6: $2,300
Total= $3,750
I am hoping to raise at least $3,750 to cover these costs but recognize that these are hard times and that this might not be doable. I will be so thankful for whatever you can give. I know that I have given to some of your funds and I find it frustrating that there is not enough systematic support and that we have to turn to each other for our financial needs. Nonetheless, with your help I will be able to afford medical care. I am so grateful for all of the support I have already received. I am full of love and joy for where life has taken me and the beautiful connections I have made. Please help me continue forward!
I would love to hold as many one on one yoga sessions with donors as possible. I am very knowledgeable when it comes to the body/emotions and would love to give back to you. Hearts!
