Jess' Run for Reggie

Hi I'm Jess and I'm raising money for my gorgeous boy, Reggie.

At the beginning of April, Reggie went off his food, was very lethargic and generally not himself. He was initially hospitalised for 2 nights and treated for what the vet thought was a chest infection. As he got worse, he was then treated for pneumonia and had to stay in hospital for another night.

When Reggie came home, he became more poorly and wouldn't eat or take his medication. He went back into hospital, where he was put on oxygen. Scans showed his lymphnodes were enlarged, his abdomen was inflamed and he had a lot of fluid on his lungs, which needed draining twice. It was then that the vet suspected FIP - a mutation of the feline coronavirus. The virus is very common and is usually harmless until it mutates and becomes deadly FIP.

Given the option of putting Reggie to sleep or starting him on life saving medication was a no brainer as he has been my shadow for the last 5 years. Sadly, the medication (GS441524) is very expensive and it's estimated cost alone, without hospital stays and tests, exceeds £2000.

It was a slow start but 2 weeks into the treatment and Reggie is back to his normal self - eating like he's never been fed, following me around and taking up all the space on the bed! However, he still has a long way to go on the medication.

On Sunday 18th May, I will be running the Great Manchester Run - a half marathon - which is something I never thought I'd hear myself say after finishing Couch to 5k last year! I'm raising money for Reggie's treatment and appreciate any donation that you can give.
