Why?
It is with great excitement and faith that I create ths. Many of you have followed my journey of summer mission trips to Nicaragua, starting five years ago. What started as a ten-day mission trip at the age of 15 has ultimately changed the trajectory of my vocation, my calling, and my faith. I can truly say that God has so powerfully worked in me and through me in these years spent in community with Nicaraguans in and around the capital city of Managua.
This year God has again called me to something incredible, and I am unbelievably excited to be able to share what He is doing in my life with you. For a long time now, I have wanted to spend more than ten days with the children and people that I have developed relationships with each year. It’s hard to leave after spending a week with someone, knowing that the next time I would be able to see them is in a full year.
What?
This summer, I will be spending just short of two months in Nicaragua, interning with the missionaries I have lived with and worked with for the past four years. I will begin by traveling down with my high school again as an alumni leader which this year that will have an emphasis on discipleship and mentorship. After this trip has come to an end, I will be staying in Nicaragua for six weeks with Open Hearts Ministries as an intern for the Farringtons (in a program called Narrow Gate). They have a phenomenal program in Nicaragua (including a rescue home for girls, another for boys, and an after-school camp). If you would like to learn more about their mission, you can visit their website here .
During my time in Narrow Gate, I will be helping with their home base hosting different teams (much like the team I went on in high school), intentional work in their different ministries, living with a Nicaraguan family for a week to better understand culture and traditions, and furthering my faith in fellowship and mentorship. I am so excited for what God is doing in my heart and Nicaragua!
How?
As I continued praying about this opportunity, I knew that I would not be able do it alone, and God continually met me saying to trust Him for He will provide. In faith, I am stepping out, asking for help in raising $2,753. The funds will be going towards my lodging, food, airfare, books, and outreach costs.
This is more than I have ever had to raise in the past, but I wholeheartedly believe that our God provides (Philippians 4:19). For our God is infinitely more powerful than finances, and I write this knowing He will equip me for what He has so clearly laid on my heart. Our God does big things!!
I ask you to prayerfully consider if this is something God is calling you to partner in, financially or through prayer. It is all of my brothers and sisters prayerfully and financially supporting me that make this sort of thing possible. During this new chapter in my life, I lovingly ask for your consideration in partnering with me for this trip. If you have any questions about anything I have mentioned or ways to pray for this trip, please feel free to contact me!
In Him,
Jess Wright
