Hi, I’m Jess. I really, really hate that my situation has come to this and I’m frankly mortified that I’m writing this, but I am in desperate need of help to keep my roof over the heads of myself and my chosen family, and keep the rest of my bills paid. We have been socked with one thing after another since we moved in nearly 4 years ago: incredibly expensive home repairs, medical bills, the death of my mother, unemployment (both temporary and long-term), and more that I won’t get into since it’s not my story to tell.
I have completely burned through the retirement funds I pulled during Covid, as well as my mother’s modest life insurance payout, to keep myself afloat. I’m living paycheck to paycheck right now with a negative net, despite making decent money at my job. If you’ve wondered why you don’t see me out at events anymore, this is why. All of my money goes toward keeping all of these plates spinning.
I am the only name on the mortgage (well, besides my late mother) so the responsibility for the house ultimately falls solely on me. I have been officially 60 days behind on mortgage payments for about six months now, and my once stellar credit is ruined as a result. I also have about $1200 more in bills that need to go out before my next paycheck, with about $100 in the bank as I’m writing this. I owe the mortgage company about $8800 at this time to get caught back up to current.
To answer an FAQ: I am wanting to sell the house if I can, but it needs more repairs that I can’t afford, and I also have to consider that I’d be displacing 5 other people in my house if/when I do. So basically, at this point in time, I’m hoping to buy some time with your help. I have applied for mortgage assistance, but I’m not optimistic that they’ll be willing to work with me. I can’t afford to be foreclosed on (which will happen if I miss any more payments) and we collectively can’t go without a roof over our heads.
Your donation will go directly to keeping me and my family housed until I can figure out a better alternative to what we’re doing right now. Thank you for any amount that you can give.
