Update on JessCancer Journey
02/11/2026

We wanted to share an important update on Jess’ health journey and ask for your continued support.

In 2023, just hours after welcoming her son through a homebirth, Jess was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. At the time, the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes. She bravely underwent chemotherapy, a single mastectomy with reconstructive surgery, and radiation. After completing treatment, she spent about a year believing she was moving forward and healing.

Unfortunately, a recent Signatera test came back positive, which led to further scans. Those scans revealed that the cancer has returned and spread to both lungs, with multiple small nodules present. A follow-up scan also showed metastasis to the bones in her back.

Throughout this journey, Jess has taken an incredibly proactive and integrative approach to her health. Alongside her oncology team, she has worked with a holistic oncologist, pursued additional testing not covered by insurance, and made major lifestyle changes, including adopting an alkaline-based diet, all in hopes of strengthening her body and supporting her treatment.

To explore every possible option, Jess recently traveled to New York for a second opinion. She will be returning soon for surgery to biopsy the lung nodules so her doctors can better understand what she is facing and determine the best next steps.

The support Jess received through GoFundMe during her first battle with cancer meant more than she can express. It lifted a huge financial burden during an overwhelming time. We are setting this up again to help cover mounting medical bills, travel and lodging expenses for her care in New York, and to help her family stay afloat while they navigate this next phase.

Your prayers, support, and any donations you are able to make means more than we can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Jess as she continues this fight.

Dear Friends and Family,

This fundraiser has been started to support Jess Hannold, a mother of two young children and stepmother of one with her fiancé, Bryson Martelli.

At just 34 years old, the unthinkable happened. She found a suspicious lump in her breast. Still nursing her two-year-old at the time, she thought it was a clogged duct and went to the doctor to have it checked out. Her doctor confirmed it was actually a mass in her breast tissue that needed to be biopsied right away. Her son Arlo, was due any day as she patiently awaited the results.

On Friday, October 6th, Jess had the home birth she had carefully planned for with the support of Bryson and her midwife. Hours after her empowering birth, she received a phone call that she was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.

The day that was meant to be filled with joy and love, quickly turned into a day of distress and fear. Jess was now faced with a terrifying diagnosis while caring for a newborn and two-year-old.

Jess is now currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy treatments every other week and will be scheduled for a mastectomy next year sometime. Each chemotherapy session is over $1,700 per treatment. The financial burden on this young family has been devastating. Even with insurance, they will have to pay thousands of dollars in medical bills each month. Jess is a stay-at-home mom and business partner with Bryson for their Home Renovation business, Traditional Remodeling Group in Centreville, VA. If you are unable to donate, please pray for their strength and healing through this tough time.

We are truly grateful for any support you can give at this time, whether it's through donation, sharing this message, or holding Jess in your thoughts and prayers.

In addition, Jess has already received many breast milk donations from local mothers to help nourish baby Arlo.

We're blessed to be surrounded by such a loving community, and we can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity.
