Please help Jess fight against stage 3 breast cancer

Hi, my name is Sharon, and I am fund-raising for our daughter Jess who has just been diagnosed with stage 3 locally advanced (locally metastasized) breast cancer. Jess is just 30 years old, and is now sadly facing a real fight for her life.

Unfortunately, Jess's diagnosis entails requiring major surgery, chemotherapy and likely radiotherapy regimes, plus the need for hormone therapies due to these cancers being of an aggressive form, as is common in early onset breast cancer.

Jess hasn't started a family yet. She now doesn't have the luxury of time to add egg retrieval to potentially gift her and her partner children later on. Her treating team will do all they can to preserve her precious eggs, but, our main priority is to ensure Jess has every fighting chance by throwing every possible treatment at this horrible disease.

There are so many unknowns facing her right now, amongst them being extra medical costs, loss of her income for at least 12 months, physical (and mental) changes, the illness and sickness she will have to endure to save her own precious life.

Australia has a great health care system, but we know there are some big costs financially in supporting the unknown that is coming in this fight. Medically related items, specialist fees, non pbs medicines, financial assistance for travel to major cities, specialised scans, tests, supportive aids and equipment, are just some of the medically related items that come to mind right now that she needs help with.

Never mind some help to cover extra utility needs for comfort like heating and cooling, extra support persons, food, personal and household requirements. It never ends for any of us right now, with the way budgets are stretched, but it is about to be massively compounded for Jess.

We are supporting Jess as much as humanly possible, as always. I am a disability support worker, who greatly understands the importance of having a network of support available. I/we really, really need your help, to support our beloved Daughter, Partner, Sister, Sister in law, Aunty, Granddaughter, Niece, Great Niece, Cousin and Friend so she can focus on kicking cancer to the curb instead of stressing massively about how she will pay for all these unwanted extra medical and financial burdens.

Can you spare $5 or $10 or $20 or $50 or $100 or even graciously more to help her?

We have had an awful year so far; losing a family member to a vehicle accident, elderly parents being both chronically and acutely unwell, followed by reluctant placement of one parent into permanent care, and then having to hear the words uttered to Jess by her GP "I'm afraid that your biopsy results have come back positive for cancer, in both sites".

That was the final kicker.......
