In mid-February, Jess was having some abdominal pain, fatigue and other symptoms. He went to his primary doctor on March 1st to get this checked out. He was then referred to general surgery for a colonoscopy. Following the procedure, the surgeon was called in and a CT was immediately ordered. The CT results came back and our hearts completely broke.

On March 13th, Jess had a biopsy performed on the multiple polyps found during his colonoscopy, but we were advised they were cancerous. Jess was then diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer. The cancer has also spread to his liver, abdomen and lymph nodes. There is no cure for this, only treatment. Surgery is not an option.

Jess went to start his chemotherapy at Gundersen in La Crosse on April 3rd but was unable to receive his infusions due to his lab work. During this visit, we also learned that Jess was diabetic, with a blood sugar of 651.

On April 12th, Jess received his first chemotherapy: 4 infusions and 1 that runs for 46 hours. He now receives chemotherapy every two weeks with a multitude of appointments during the week while trying to push through everyday life and work.

This diagnosis has completely turned his life upside down. Not only has this been an incredible financial burden due to medical costs, travel expenses and time off work, but Jess has been so exhausted at times that he misses out on enjoying things with his family. Jess is the father of Dylan (26), and Cash (3), and is expecting twins in December with his Fiancée Allyssa.

Jess has always been the type of guy who hated to sit at home. He loves to be with his family, whether that's going to the beach, out for a random drive to get lost, ride 4 wheelers and just be the life of the party. He also enjoys working and wishes to continue to do so for as long as he can. He has been employed at Walmart Distribution Center in Tomah for the past 4 years. The associates there have provided great support to Jess during this transition, Jess and his family have been extremely grateful for all they have done.

If anyone is willing to donate, this Go Fund Me has been set up to assist Jess with his medical costs and time lost from work.
