My sister Jess and I have been best friends since I entered this world not-quite-yet-30 years ago. We’ve celebrated countless birthdays together, college graduations, family holidays and in more recent years both her engagement and marriage to Tim (spoiler: I cried a lot at both her engagement and wedding). We’ve carried each other through the tough times too, from break-ups (mostly *NSYNC), to illnesses, and through the separations and loss of loved ones. Through all our experiences together, I’ve never doubted that Jess will make a remarkable mother. Today, I am confident that both she and Tim will make remarkable parents.
Unfortunately, Jess and Tim have been trying to conceive and have reached the point where their only remaining option is IVF. They’ve gone for the consultation at IVF Michigan and have learned that the cost is $15,600, in addition to $5-7k more for the medication. Jess and Tim have (of course) been saving up for the costs associated with having a baby, though I am certain they could use some financial assistance and/or support of loved ones to achieve their dreams of a family. Beyond that, I also think alleviating some of the financial burden will help in making things a little less stressful and a lot more equipped for a Kay baby.
As a disclaimer: both Jess and Tim were initially skeptical about making this public and asking for any donations. After speaking with them at length, they are willing to ask for some assistance due to the abundance of support from family and friends who want to help. I’m confident that I am not the only one who feels like I’ve sat by idly for many months, helplessly hearing the stories of ovulation sticks, monitoring of menstrual cycles, and planning for high fertility windows. Setting up this GoFundMe not only helps them: it gives anyone else wanting to help a chance to do so. 100% of the proceeds will go towards IVF and associated costs.
