Hello everyone,

My name is Janie, the sister to Joell Carrafiello and sister-in-law to Joshua Ortega. I’m organizing this GoFundMe for my sister Joell and her family to alleviate some of the pressure they are currently experiencing. We didn’t think we’d be in this position to have to do this but desperate times call for desperate measures. Especially when it comes to the ones we love the most. Recently, over Christmas and New Year’s break, preliminarily symptoms led Joell to the ER with her first son Jeshua, who is 6 years old. Unfortunately, after multiple tests and procedures Jeshua was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabomyocarcinoma. During this time Jeshua’s Oncologist confirmed the cancer has metastasized to three different areas of his body. We are crowdfunding to help assist Joell and Joshua’s family during this challenging period while they take care of their sick son and family of 9 which includes 5 girls and 2 boys. In addition, Jeshua's treatments and therapies. Joshua has been the sole provider for their family and due to the present circumstances it is going to be extremely difficult for him to work a consistent fulltime schedule. Aside from chemotherapy and radiation there are other treatment options such as hyperbaric chamber, immunotherapy, IV therapy, a specific diet which Jeshua may have a high chance to benefit from. These specific treatments are very costly however at this point we have nothing to lose and give this all that we have. This news is a shock to all of us and the sooner we get treatments going the better it will hopefully be for Jeshua. I strongly believe Jeshua deserves the chance to fight for his precious life and we hope to be able to give him that fighting chance. I ask from the deepest crevices in my heart to please help make this journey a little less heavy for Jeshua and his family. We are calling on the community, our friends, friends of friends, associates, family and whoever else this GoFundMe reaches for your kindness and consideration in donating anything you can to help Jeshua win this battle.
