Hey loves. I’ve tried so hard to not have to utilize this potential resource, however it’s unavoidable at this point. Like so many people, my husband and I have been struggling financially for some time now. Today I hit a new low and actually had my car repossessed. I’m so embarrassed about this. SO embarrassed. But, as many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some pretty debilitating symptoms for some time now.
In April of 2022, I had my gallbladder removed and an attempted fix of an umbilical hernia. The repair, unfortunately, didn’t take and I was back in for surgical repair with mesh at the beginning of June 2022. I was only able to work about a week and a half between the two procedures, and I’ve been out of work ever since. This road has been rough with a capital OUGH! Geez-louise.
On top of the chronic health issues and trying to navigate through the current medical system, we have been through some pretty crazy stuff. Marriage and loss of a parent in the same month; the unexpected loss of the best provider I’ve ever had; more medical gaslighting and trauma; got covid; housing insecurity begins when I had to break up a domestic altercation (yes, with my ongoing mobility issues and plethora of other symptoms) - I had adrenaline pumping through my body for 6 DAYS; ongoing familial issues and trauma; added medical trauma and gaslighting - getting yelled at by a new provider and scoffed at when I said I didn’t understand and that I really thought I’m autistic; and we lived in a camper at the end of last summer out of necessity.
Thankfully we were able to move into our apartment last September, which is also when my husband started his current job. Between his fluctuating paychecks (sales job) and my SSDI it has been very hard for us to even get the basics covered on a regular basis. This is has led to our getting behind on the car payment enough to where they took it back. BUT, we need the car to get my husband to work and for me to get to appointments - especially given my mobility issues.
About a month after losing my provider, my “body movements” I had previously only experienced some times at night, became 1000% worse. There was one day that was so bad I went to the ER, I counted over 400 movements in one hour. I also have gastric issues; a very low tolerance to heat and exertion that triggers other fun things like dizziness and syncopal episodes; I’m pretty sure I have a connective tissue issue like EDS or something, but we haven’t gotten there yet; I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (which requires me to walk with a cane) in December of 2022 and finally was able to get diagnosed with Autism, just recently.
This money will help us get the car back and we’ll be able to ensure April’s payment is taken care of. My husband is anticipating a move to a different store (with more foot traffic) in the next couple of months which should help cover things more easily. Additionally, I’m still remaining hopeful that my condition will improve at some point and I’ll actually be able to get my business going for realsies. In the meantime, you might start seeing me on youtube…maybe!
If you are able to contribute anything, we would be extremely grateful! If all you can do is share this, that is a great help too!
Love to you all,
Jes
