Jerry's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
So many of us have been following our cousin Jerry Freemark’s cancer journey and we have decided to share his story and start a GoFundMe site to help with expenses. Jerry has lived his entire life in Bloomington MN and was first diagnosed with anal cancer November 2017; he underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments for the next forty days. He then was cancer free. What a blessing to be cancer free as it allowed him to spend the next year and a half taking care of his health having hip surgery and becoming sober. Jerry has been sober since 4/18/2019 after a 40-year battle with alcohol.
Unfortunately, the cancer returned and he underwent major colostomy surgery on 11/30/2021. While recovering at home, 12/4/2021 Penny rushed Jerry to ER because of an infection, being pre-septic and his kidneys were beginning to shut down. He went through two surgeries that week to get the infection under control. He continues to fight infections and received a wound pump to assist in the healing process. He has been through seven (7) surgeries to clean out the wound and to make viable tissue. His eighth (8) surgery is scheduled for March 4th. We are all hopeful he will not go into double digits with his surgeries but there is no guarantee.
What is common with cancer and other medical issues, the bills have not paused or slowed. Jerry hasn’t been able to work since November 2021 so if you can contribute, any amount would be appreciated. The money will all go towards medical bills and living expenses to allow him to continue his focus on recovery.
