Jerrybase is, of course, a non-commercial enterprise and absolutely no personal gain is involved for anyone involved. All the hours we put into it are free and gladly given, but monthly expenses are currently paid out of pocket. In order to make the site reliable and responsive we don't host it on an old machine in someone's basement - we use a solid industry-standard cloud hosted platform via AWS and Heroku with nightly backups, and maintain both the public facing production site and a test environment for trying out new code. This costs at least $86 a month, with many months already paid. The goal of this fundraiser is to defray those costs some for the future.
