Jerry Woo's Double Transplant

Donation protected

February 6th used to be a day we celebrated in my family. You see, February 6th is my brother’s birthday but this year we were given the most devastating news we could have ever imagined. After 2 weeks in the hospital we were told that my father needed a second liver transplant and a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, my father was turned down by Columbia Presbyterian hospital, where he received his first liver transplant in 2008 and we were told that without this second transplant, we don’t have very much time left with our father.

We were in complete shock. Our entire world had been devastated. Initially we felt this was it… We just had to pray for the best and accept what seemed inevitable. But after several days of crying myself to sleep and trying to accept the reality of this situation, I couldn’t just sit back and wait. I went online and researched what people do in these situations and then started searching for transplant hospitals in the surrounding states. My sister and I called all the hospitals we could find and spoke to anyone that would listen. We were able to find a few hospitals willing to evaluate my father to see if he would be a candidate for transplant in order to put him on the list. My father is so many things to so many people. He is a husband, a brother, a “pompa", an uncle, a good friend, a father and a fathet figure to so many.

As you can imagine between traveling, lodging and medical bills our bills are starting to accumulate rather quickly. We are asking our family, friends and friends of friends to find it in your heart to help my family lessen the financial burden during this very difficult time. Every penny, prayer and repost counts.
