Jerry Lawrence - Hit & Run Victim (Critical Condition)

My name is Karly Ring and I am the sister to Jerry Lawrence. As many of you may know Jerry was struck by a vehicle a few days ago.

2/6/25 around 11:40pm - the Montcalm county sheriffs department responded to a wellbeing check request of a person walking down the road in an unlit area. (Trufant, MI) He was wearing dark clothing so unfortunately he was not very visible… the man walking was my brother Jerry, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle…. The police found him lying on the side of the road… the vehicle had not stopped.

The police department are currently working to investigate and find the driver. They have some pieces of the car as well as Jerry’s clothing from the accident. We are hoping Jerry makes a full recovery and the driver come forward or is found!!

Right now though our main concern is seeing him get well.

After being discovered on the side of the road Jerry was rushed to Grand Rapids hospital where he was placed in the ICU with a broken arm, leg, and pelvis. Injuries to his kidneys, liver and spleen. (2/7) Yesterday they stopped the internal bleeding and inserted a drain tube for the bleeding near the kidneys.

(2/8) This afternoon he went into surgery around 11:45am to repair his bones. He was placed back into the ICU around 5:00pm and is now (7:57pm) currently in critical condition in the ICU on advanced life support, but they say he is doing well… they will begin weaning him off the ventilator either tonight or tomorrow morning.. updates to come. ‼️ UPDATE (2/9 3:55pm): The psychiatrist from the hospital just called and said Jerry is awake, very agitated, he's in a 5 point restraint so he doesn't pull tubes, asked permission to give meds to help him relax and calm down, he's not aware of what has happened to him or why he's there, it's still very confused and disoriented. 

We are hoping to use anything obtained through this GoFundMe to help with any of his future medical bills and extensive physical therapy that the doctors recommend... all donations will be put to use in making sure Jerry makes it through this!! We are beyond thankful for any support we may receive in such an unfortunate circumstance.
