Dear Friends,
On the early morning of March 31st, 2020, Jerry Gentry passed suddenly and unexpectedly from what they could tell at the hospital was an unexpected and very random cardiovascular failure (a heart attack). Jerry was a dedicated and loving father of four children, a husband, son, brother and friend.
Jerry was married to Terri, his wife of 31 years, and had four beautiful children: Jd (27), Rachael (25) Schuyler (22) and John (21). Jerry worked hard at his job of Home Mortgage Consultant, he was always great with customers, always tossing out some silly jokes here and there, and always trying to make people laugh. He was always working even when he was at home, not for himself but because he loved to help out his children whenever they were in need. He never thought about himself, always putting his family first.

In his spare time, if he ever had any, Jerry liked to watch Braves games or Georgia football games. He loved to go deer hunting whenever his wife would let him (haha). And of course, he loved hanging out with his kids. Jerry was a devoted baseball coach for his sons’ leagues for over 20 years. He also led Awanas at his church for over 10 years. Jerry also had one granddaughter, Octavia (4). She was by far his favorite. Terri often joked, “Jerry, I think you love Octavia more than me,” and he would always smile and say, “Well, you never know, haha.”
Jerry loved going to the beach every year for the family trip, with all his children and their spouses and his granddaughter. They would laugh and play all week. Even though Jerry didn't tan well, he would still always make an appearance for some good corn hole action, always trying to beat his kids and show them who was best. Because of course dads always have to be the best right?
This money that we are trying to raise for Jerry’s memorial fund is going to go towards a part of the funeral expenses, scholarships for young kids that can’t afford to play baseball, and helping kids purchase books and other materials at Awanas at First Baptist Woodstock.
Thank you and God Bless,
The Gentrys
