On Monday, December 7, 2020, my one and only and most beloved daughter, Jerrica went to UW Health Hospital for a routine appointment, as double lung transplant patients do. The doctor was concerned and asked her to stay a few more days, I was not allowed to go in with her due to the hospital COVID-19 regulations. Also, per their regulations, Jerrica had to take a COVID- 19 test and the test came back negative, twice. Twelve days later, they tested Jerrica a third time, because a patient with the same doctor, tested positive. Jerrica contracted COVID- 19 from the doctor. They had to put her in an induced coma for an entire month. Fast forward to today. Jerrica is now on live support.
Jerrica has spent the past 77 days in the Intensive Care Unit and COVID- 19 isolation away from her only daughter attempting to recover. Jerrica was on the road of recovery process of regaining functionality in her legs.
As we all know, Jerrica is as much a force as she is a guiding light for so many of us, including her 12-year-old daughter, Ambrielle. Jerrica is dynamic, she is empathetic, and she is, without a doubt, a survivor.
Jerrica has always prided herself on others in need and now can use your help. The health care, support for her daughter, Ambrielle and other living costs will be extensive.
As Jerrica has told us before and after her double lung transplant surgery, “I WILL live to take care of my daughter.” While Jerrica has always been a cheerleader for so many, it is now our opportunity to be hers.
