Jerome’s funeral and medical expenses
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Angelika. I am Jerome’s daughter. Friday, February 3rd my Dad went into the hospital due to his leg being red and swollen. He has neuropathy and had issues with his legs for some time now. We didn’t think too much of it.. we thought maybe a small infection that they’ll be able to treat and he’ll be back home in a couple days.. we were very wrong. The next day we found out his infection was so bad that it turned into sepsis. Still didn’t think too much of it as they were assuring us they’d get the infection under control and he’d be fine. Fast forward to Monday the 6th.. they informed us he went into septic shock and his heart, kidneys and liver were starting to shut down and he had to be put on a ventilator, blood pressure meds and dialysis to keep him somewhat stable. He had to go into surgery to get the infected leg cleaned to try to calm down the infection. They told us there was a high risk that he wouldn’t make it through. Wednesday the 8th, he was taken off of the ventilator and things were starting to look up. His organs were doing better and the doctors were so impressed with his improvement. Fast forward to Monday the 13th, we had a video meeting with a few doctors and they assured us he was going to get through this but it was going to take time for him to recover. He was on the right path. There was hope! Later that same day, we were informed he had taken a turn for the worst. He was put back on the ventilator and his blood pressure meds and a little later ended up going into cardiac arrest and they had to revive him. After that, his breathing was horrible, the worst we had seen it throughout his whole hospital stay. We left that night with a gut feeling something was going to go wrong. At around 1AM the 14th, we got a call saying we all needed to get up there asap. They had to revive him two more times. They said there was no more they could do for him, the infection was just too bad and wasn’t responding to any of the antibiotics. That night, we had to say goodbye to my father. We saw him leave us and it was the worst pain any of us have ever experienced. My whole family is truly heartbroken. We had no idea this hospital stay was gonna be the end of his life. My mom and dad were already hurting a lot financially but after my Dad’s death my Mom will be drowning in medical bills and expenses that she can’t afford. We are all doing all we can to help as a family but it’s still not nearly enough so we are asking for help with the funeral costs and medical bills for his hospital stay. Any amount is appreciated.
My Dad had a heart of gold. To know him, was to love him. He truly was a man of god. He lived for his faith. Every week he would donate to his church. As well as other donations to multiple charities each year. He was always looking out for the less fortunate. Even if he himself didn’t have much. His family was his world and all his grandkids brought him so much joy. We could always count on him no matter what the situation. He was the glue to our family. His generosity and faith I’m sure fast tracked him to heaven. We couldn’t think of a better person to donate to. My dad deserves the best possible celebration to honor his life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
