Jerney’s Medical and Court Fees

Donation protected

I am raising money to cover Jerney’s medical and court fees they have been charged while in prison.

Jerney is a Black Transgender woman was born and raised in Texas and loves to cook, clean, read, write, design clothes, and spend time with animals. Since 2013, Jerney has been in prison serving a 10-year sentence for a burglary of a habitation charge. Jerney was forced to grow up too fast and worked hard to support their son. Jerney was never accepted for who their are and faced discrimination and transphobia their entire life but they never stopped fighting.

In prison, people are charged state and federal court fees. These fees are designed to keep poor people poor and to further punish them in prison (and after). 50% of any money added to Jerney’s commissary account is automatically taken to pay these fees. Their current fees are around 1,150,00.

Helping to pay off Jerney’s fees would help Jerney to retain commissary funds for essentials while in prison like clothing, toiletries, and correspondence materials (paper, stamps, etc.). In prison Jerney is given a sleeveless jumpsuit and must pay extra for thermals ($5,50), a T-Shirt ($6.00), or new shoes ($49.00).  Donations would enable Jerney to buy what they need to be as comfortable as possible while in Prison. These donations will also help to buy books for Jerney as they are in ad-set/solitary for the majority of the day and they do not have much to do other than read books and write to pen pals.

If you cannot donate but would still like to help you could become a penpal for Jerney! Visit their penpal profile and please take note that any  correspondence must be addressed to Jerremy (Jerney’s birth name).

Than you to everyone in advance!

A note from Jerney:

“Greetings and respects to all. I'm Jerremy Ray AKA Black Ice. I'm a 25-year-old Trans woman in solitary/ad-seg confinement in the Texas Criminal Justice System.

I have a great sense of humor, I'm fun-loving, respectful, non-judgmental, understanding, and no subject is taboo to me either. I'm serving 10 years non-agg for a burglary of a habitation charge and I've served 6 years on it already. I'm dealing with some depression issues but nothing serious. I'm from Tyler, TX Born n Raised.

I love to cook, clean, read, write, design clothes, and work with animals. I was raised in a negative environment where gang violence was very common. I was forced to fight or be beaten, which can damage anyone's mind. I've taken great interest in photography, designing clothes, and reading while being incarcerated. I also enjoy meeting new people because you never know what can be learned from your interaction with a person. I've always lived by a stranger is only a friend you've yet to meet. Everyone has a story to tell an has a lesson to be learned from their story.”
