A Tough Year, A Fierce Fight: Support for Jeri’s Recovery

2025 has been unimaginably difficult for Jeri. In February, she was unexpectedly let go from her job of 15 years—a role she poured herself into with loyalty and dedication. That alone would be a heavy blow, but life had more in store.

After weeks of feeling unwell, Jeri sought emergency care in early July at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. What followed was a whirlwind of medical challenges: she was diagnosed with a severe case of acute pancreatitis complicated by an abdominal infection. Within days, her condition escalated beyond what the hospital could manage, and she was transferred to Tufts Medical Center on July 27th.

Since then, Jeri has endured a series of intense procedures, including:

Removal of necrotic tissue

Placement of 5 external drains

2 internal stents and drains

Most recently, 2 chest tubes

She’s been fighting for her life for over two months, and to say she’s been through it is an understatement.

As her proxy and POA, we’ve worked to ensure her health insurance is in place. But Jeri’s hospitalization means she can’t apply for jobs, interview, or qualify for unemployment. We’re actively navigating PFMLA, but in the meantime, her financial stability is at risk.

This fundraiser is one way we can lift a burden off her shoulders. Every contribution will go directly toward keeping Jeri’s everyday life afloat—covering essentials like rent, utilities, and basic needs—so she can focus on healing without the added stress of financial insecurity.
