Jerilyn's life changed forever when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2020. She prepared herself for the fight of her life as she courageously endured multiple surgeries and chemotherapy during the chaotic beginnings of the COVID pandemic. She fought bravely and looked forward to moving forward with minimal effects from this horrible disease and treatments. Unfortunately, she began to have signs of heart issues and was shocked to discover that one of the chemo drugs had caused severe damage to her heart, leaving her left ventricle severely impaired. As she began to see more doctors and have more tests run, it was evident that she was experiencing heart failure. A heart transplant would not be possible until she has been in remission from cancer for a specific amount of time. The only solution to save Jerilyn's life until she can receive a new heart is an LVAD implant. She will be going to Houston Methodist this week for a final heart cath, and her doctors will begin prepping her for this very complicated surgery. Within the past few months, Jerilyn was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Jerilyn needs our support. She has been such a fighter, but she still has many challenges ahead. One way to support her is by donating to help cover medical expenses related to this surgery and ongoing medical care. There will be a good bit of travel involved, and she will have to stay in Houston for several weeks following this surgery. Also, there will be some modifications needed in their home in the months ahead that to decrease mobility issues for her. No amount is too small.
I also ask that you would pray for Jerilyn, her husband Eric, her children, and friends/family that will be working together to take care of her in the weeks/months ahead.
