Jeri Needs Us: Recovering from Tragedy
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Heidi Torrence-Simon. Along with Sheryl Solomon and Barbara Schaffner, we are hoping to raise funds for our grade school and lifelong friend, Jeri Barron.
On December 6, 2024, Jeri was going to catch the train after work in Highland Park, Illinois. As she was crossing the street, an SUV hit her and kept going. She flew through the air and landed in the middle of the street. Luckily, 2 good Samaritans stopped to help her. Unfortunately, no one got the license plate number.
Jeri's injuries are severe. She was in 2 different hospitals. She had surgery on her right leg for a broken knee, toe, and ankle, plus a crushed foot. Needless to say, she is unable to walk.
After her insurance would not pay for skilled nursing care any longer, she had to return to her second-floor apartment on February 1st. It will be a long, painful road to recovery.
Jeri is emotionally and financially devastated. Luckily, her social security takes care of her rent. But that's it.
We are hoping and praying, with everyone's help, to literally get her back on her feet. We appreciate you taking time to read Jeri's story.
Thank you all so very much,
Heidi, Sheryl, and Barbara
