Jeremy's Ski Future/Knee Brace
Donation protected
Hey Everyone I'm Bryan!
I'm starting a Go Fund Me page for my friend Jeremy.
Jeremy is a lifelong skier, and member of the Backcountry Community in the Canadian Rockies and BC. He has had a rough go of it for the last few years. He was a hero in the highly publicised avalanche near Smithers BC in 2011. He saved the life of onc of his partners, but unfortunately two other skiers were not so lucky.
After years of struggling with this, he returned to skiing. His personal life turned to shambles, and then in 2015 he lost his professional job, and has been unable to find one since. His only respite was his skiing.
On January 19th 2017, while skiing inbounds at a resort, a tree took his right knee. He now needs multiple surgeries over the next few years, and the doctor thinks it may be a few years until he regains functionality. He has torn his right PCL/ACL/MCL, and now requires an orthosis brace for all activities, and hopefully ski again. He actually doesn't need one brace, he needs two. One the provincial government will cover part of the cost of, which leaves $1447 unpaid; but he will also require a second brace of $1800, which Alberta Health Services won't subsidize.
Jeremy is unemployed and didn't like the idea of a Go Fund Me. I told him sometimes you just have to let other people share the burden.
Please donate if you can, so we can help Jeremy return to skiing. I would appreciate it, and Jeremy would appreciate it. I don't want to make this about showing off, because I'd like to get Jeremy every dollar that we can, so if you donate, you can donate as “Anonymous”, and send me a note. I will put your name in a card when this is all said and done. If all you can donate is $5, we will take it. Many hands make light work.
Here is to a speedy recovery, and Jeremy being able to "Send it" in the Canadian Rockies next to his friends again!
