Jeremy’s Miracle Fund
Donation protected
Jeremy Teague is my brother-in-law.
On February 18, Jeremy, at the young age of 44, was the victim of a terrible car accident that has changed the landscape of his life and his family’s lives forever.
In a split second, he suffered one of the worst spinal injuries you can withstand.
He has become a quadriplegic and a human who depends on a ventilator to survive!!
Jeremy instantly lost all ability to move independently from his shoulders down! The doctors rushed him to surgery but could not fix the complete sever of his C4.
In ordinary language, this is not an injury that he can expect to recover fully from, and there is a strong possibility that along with total paralysis, Jeremy may be “Vent Dependent” for the rest of his life!
Jeremy has a beautiful wife, Jennifer, who hasn’t left his side, and 3 children with a grandchild on the way!
Jeremy is fully alert and has all of his faculties, which is heartbreaking. He is a man of faith, an accomplished musician, songwriter, worship leader, and sole provider for his family.
There are not many facilities that will accommodate a case as severe as Jeremy’s; however, we did find The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, that has the expertise to help Jeremy rehabilitate as much as possible while also teaching Jennifer and family how to care for him for the rest of his life unless a miracle happens!
We believe in miracles and are praying fervently for many miracles!
Until then, we have mountains ahead of us that seem insurmountable.
We live in Louisiana, so only part of our family can move to Atlanta for the next 2-3 months!
Medical transport by air is the only way to get him to Atlanta, and as far as we know, that is NOT covered by insurance.
We may have to move him at the drop of a hat, so that is the first hurdle financially, which looks to have a price tag upwards of $15,000.
We also need housing through Airbnb within 20 minutes of the hospital.
Only half of our family is able to move, so leaving half behind is one of the most difficult decisions Jeremy and Jennifer have ever had to face.
Jeremy is going to need so much specialized medical equipment, such as a wheelchair that can support a vent, a hoist, a specialized hospital bed, and a way to make their house accessible for Jeremy to come home to.
They will also need a modified vehicle and ways to bathe him that need to be built.
There are so many things that I’m leaving out right now because they are too many to name!
Thankfully, Jeremy did have insurance that will help; however, there will be many things it does not cover. Our family needs all the support that we can get.
For some, their support is by praying, and then there’s some whose support can be financial! Nothing is too small, and nothing is too big.
As their family, we are doing the only thing we can do at this time, and that is to make sure Jeremy and Jennifer don’t have to worry about their home, the medical bills, the equipment, and the vehicle.
No matter what, Jeremy has been miraculously spared, and he has much more to add to his legacy! We just want to be the hands and feet for him and his family, who he loves with all his heart!
So the first mountain is to get him to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
The second mountain is to find temporary housing to try to have some sense of normalcy.
The third is to be able to have their regular monthly bills taken care of until they get their feet under them and realize what it’s gonna take to survive this!
Jeremy surviving the wreck and making it to the hospital statistically is in the top 5% with this type of injury, so we count that as miracle one. If this situation touches your heart and you want to support this beautiful family, whose lives will never be the same, I promise you there is no one more deserving!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and know that we will periodically update this GoFundMe.
