Throughout his entire life, Jeremy Todd has only known one thing: to provide for his family. At just 18 years old, he and and his high school sweetheart and now wife, Charlotte, brought their oldest child, Samantha, into the world. From that point, they dedicated their lives to raising their baby girl with not only the basic necessities, but also a home built by love.
Since then, three other blessings have been added to their family—Bryon, Austin, and Nathan—but their promise to provide hasn’t changed. For 28 years, the Todds have made good on this promise through hard work and devotion. It hasn’t been easy, but for this family, throwing in the towel is never an option, no matter the obstacle.
This past Wednesday, tragedy struck and threw a wrench unlike any other seen by the Todds. While operating a crane at work in Henderson, KY, a job he has been doing for over 10 years, Jeremy suffered from an aneurysm. Although responsive, he was in critical condition. With the help of firemen, first responders, and his staff at work, Jeremy was aircared to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was given a cat scan and then taken in for surgery. Post surgery he was admitted into the intensive care unit and has been labeled “critically ill” and will be cared for 24/7 for minimum of two weeks.
Since his arrival to Deaconess’s ICU, Jeremy has made leaps in his responsiveness. Charlotte has not left his side since he was released from surgery. She feared he may not feel her presence, but just as she was unsure, Jeremy squeezed her hand, wiggled his toes, and let his love know that he would not leave her or his children. He would make his way back and be the provider he promised to be for his family. A few days later, he has opened his eyes, played a bit of his pillow guitar, and even attempted a thumb war, but too much stimulation can cause swelling in his brain so touching and talking are kept to a minimum.
We have a long way to go to—recovery and Jeremy’s condition is being taken by doctors on an hour-by-hour basis. The first step was to take a section of his skull off to release pressure, remove the blood and clamp the aneurysm. Monitoring pressure and fluid levels are ongoing as well as ensuring comfort throughout the next few days.
As far as any funds received—the family has set up a separate bank account that will be used to help out with the incurring debt of medical and therapy expenses. There is no set “goal” we want to reach, but rather a way for those who would like to help out able to. Prayers, thoughts, and all things positive for a steady recovery are greatly appreciated by all. We love and thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. The support we have been shown truly means more than you could ever imagine. ❤️
