Help The Low Fam Get Back On Our Feet,Literally!

Hello everyone!

We are The Low Family, or as we like to call ourselves, LowFam5. Jeremy and I have 3 amazing sons. We love the outdoors, and spend any free time together as a family.

Jeremy, up until recently, worked a job that had him "on the road" as a traveling Sprinkler Fitter - shout out to Local 669!!! He is the hardest working man I know! That job worked well, but Jeremy wanted to be home with his family, and see his boys at the end of every day. The time was right and God blessed us with a job opportunity in our town! This was a huge moment for us as a family. No more dramatic goodbyes after a short weekend visit. No more Airbnb's. No more, Mom alone with 3 boys, hallelujah!

Now, all of the things Jeremy wished he could do with the boys became a reality! Life has been really great for us with all of the family time we could ask for.  Any free evenings and weekends became time for a skate sesh. Jeremy grew up with a skateboard attatched to his feet, and our boys are the same way.

A few weeks ago, we went out of town to meet a new addition to our family. After masking up and taking turns holding the new baby, Jeremy  took the boys out for some fresh air. They decided to try a new skatepark. They were all so excited.

And then...

My phone rings. It's Jeremy. " I think I'm pretty hurt this time. Come and get me."
I put down the baby, rush over, and sure enough there's an ambulance and Jeremy on the ground.

After hours in the emergency room (during Covid so I was in the parking lot), mulitple x-rays, CT scan, Jeremy was told he had a trimalleolar fracture plus a dislocation in his right ankle . They were also worried about an artery not supplying blood to his foot. After a 3 day stay in the hospital to address that issue, he was released and we started our 5 hour drive back home. 2 days later, he had surgery on his ankle/leg.  A plate and 10 screws later, he's doing well and staying off of his feet as much as possible.

Jeremy has worked since he was 14 years old. His goal has always been to help people. He was a Sierra Hotshot for 4 years, and left that job after we had our oldest son. He could not be away from him. Since then, Jeremy has worked in Fire Protection, and has worked his ass off everyday for his family. He continues to work towards the goal of getting on a City Fire Engine, getting his Firefighter 1 and EMT certs, all after working a 8-12 hour day. I am one very proud wife. He is the head of this family and we love him!

However, hard as it is to ask...we need help. Jeremy is currently off from work and will be for a total of 6-8 weeks. In addition, the hospital bills are starting to come in. I work in an Elementary school, and have to return soon with my sick pay almost out. I had to quit my night job so I can be here to care for Jeremy and get these boys everywhere. Life with 3 growing boys does not slow down because Dad got hurt, and niether do bills.

Our state does not provide short term disablity coverage. Jeremy is a proud member of the Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669. They take excellent care of us, but the disabilty payout is smaller than our weekly grocery bill.

We have amazing people in our life. Family, friends, chuch family, and union brothers who have always been there for us. Asking for help is NOT something we like to do, but we realize the gravity of our current situation. We do not live out of our means, and we have (had) an emergency fund. However, after two weeks without the "breadwinner's paycheck", reality has set in.

I apologize for the lengthy desciption of events. From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly thank you for any amout you give to help. Prayers for quick and complete healing are greatly appreciated. We hope to see Jeremy back out doing what he loves with his boys, and back to work asap!

Sincerely,

LowFam5
