Jeremy Robbins’s medical expenses due to injury
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Adam Robbins and I am Jeremy’s oldest son. Together in total Jeremy and Casey have 6 kids, 2 of which are minor daughters that still live at home.
Sunday afternoon February 4th, Jeremy was working on a home DIY project and was using a table saw to cut a piece of wood and cut through his left hand just above his wrist, but below his palm.
His wife and him traveled via car while on the phone with 911 to their local Casey’s General Store, where a selfless employee gave his belt to Casey no questions asked to make a tourniquet to place on Jeremy and this act truly saved his life.
They were met there with the Linn County Sheriff’s Department deputy a short time later and the deputy stated that this belt is the ONLY reason Jeremy is still with us today and why he still had a hand that the surgeons could get fixed/reattach.
They got to Unity Point hospital and realized quickly that they could not assist and needed to get him life flighted up to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Minnesota. He was flown Sunday evening and rushed into surgery. A convoy of family rushed behind the three hours to Rochester awaiting the results of the almost 5 hour surgery. Surgeons stated that Jeremy cut through every artery, ligament, tendon, and nerve in his hand. The surgeons were able to repair one of the arteries, both nerves and all ligaments and tendons. They are hopeful that he will regain some of the feeling and movement of his left hand but they did let us know that it will never be like before.
Jeremy has a very long road ahead of him. The surgeons said that he has a recovery window of around 12 to 18 months but could be longer. He cannot do anything with his hand or move it in anyway shape or form for at least 6 months.
If you know Jeremy he is a man that has used his hands for work his entire life. He will not be able to do this again, fully. He has no short or long term disability insurance through his work and very little PTO/Sick leave. Jeremy and Casey will need all the help they can get with the extensive medical bills, life flight costs, general expenses and travel expenses to go to his follow up appointments with his surgeon in Rochester. Jeremy will be out of work for an indefinite amount of time.
Jeremy and Casey never ask for any help and are always the first to give their shirts off their backs for other people. If you can and want to donate, any amount of money will help them as they have helped so many people themselves in the past.
