Hi Everyone,
My name is Jeremy Nicholas and I'm reaching out for support to help fund my upcoming medical expenses. In late January, I encountered some swelling and discomfort which led to a doctor's visit that uncovered a diagnosis of stage 3 testicular cancer. Everything happened quickly, and the same day I was officially diagnosed I underwent a surgery to remove the cancerous testicle.
Following a biopsy of the cancerous testicle, my Oncologist found that I have non-seminoma (quick spreading) mixed germ cell cancer. There were multiple types of testicular cancer found from the biopsy, and the right lymph node in my interaortal region is currently infected. Normally the doctors would have performed a second surgery, however the swelling is so intense (3cm x 8cm) that my Oncologist recommended doing chemotherapy first, and then proceeding with a second surgery if the lymph node doesn't return to its normal size.
I am fortunate to be able to tell you all that there is an extremely high probability I will be completely cancer free post treatment. Starting 2/22/21, I will begin a 12 week cycle of chemotherapy coupled with blood draws to monitor cancer markers followed by a 3 week recovery period. That procedure will be followed by a second CT scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread outside of the currently infected lymph node, and to see if the second surgery is necessary.
This feels very strange for me to be asking for help, but the medical expenses have taken a toll on Melissa and I financially as we were in the middle of planning a wedding, and saving rigorously for a down payment on a home to start our family. I know that everyone is going through a tough time right now with COVID, and your own personal struggles, but Melissa and I would greatly appreciate any amount of support you would be generous enough to give.
