Jeremy Melberg's ongoing medical expenses
Jeremy was diagnosed on Nov 27, 2019, with stage 4 colon cancer. His oncologist said it’s not curable but treatable. With it being stage 4, it’s up in the air for the next 5 years. Jeremy's treatment plan was 5 surgeries, 12 rounds, and chemo pills and radiation in the first year. Everything went as planned.
In December 2020, his scan showed no cancer. Jeremy started his last 6 rounds of clean-up chemo in January of 2021. He finished those rounds up in March. His family was excited to be done with chemo-life. They lived the next 3 months like a typical family; no chemo, no doctor visits. They were so thankful & happy!
When Jeremy had his 3-month check-up scan, a swollen lymph node showed up in his scan. Because it was in his pelvic area, they could not do a biopsy. They also found spots in his lungs. With bloodwork, his oncologist believed that the cancer was back.
He suggested getting back on chemo right away. His oncologist told him back in August of 2021 that since the cancer was back so fast, he would be on chemo for the rest of his life. He told him to start doing things on his bucket list because how he feels now is the best he will ever feel.
Thank God Jeremy is doing the opposite! He’s never felt better, even after 33 rounds of chemo. His bloodwork doesn’t look like a man on chemo. His last scan in October 2022 showed that one lymph node was stable. He has about 10 spots in his lungs.
Currently, the plan is for Jeremy to stay on chemotherapy and continue with scans for life. He receives chemo every other week. Scans are every three months at Mayo Clinic. We are praying for a miracle: a clear scan and for the cancer to be gone. God can heal.
