Jeremy and Erin Schmitz

This fundraiser has been created to assist the Schmitz family with the expenses they have incurred, as well as future expenses. The path going forward will be long and uncertain for the Schmitz family, but their faith is strong and their love for each other is immeasurable.

On January 10, Jeremy Schmitz suffered a stroke in the early morning hours. He was taken by ambulance to CHI and underwent surgery to relieve a large clot in his brain. The surgeon was able to clear 80% of the clot.

On Wednesday, January 11, Jeremy had a second surgery to relieve pressure and swelling in his brain. The doctor performed a craniectomy (removed a small portion of the skull) and this proved successful.

Jeremy was accepted to the Craig Hospital in Denver, CO. This is a renowned rehab facility for intense in-patient therapy. Jeremy and Erin arrived in Colorado on Wednesday, January 25.

After numerous tests upon arrival, Jeremy was taken into another surgery on Thursday, January 26, to flush out the infection and remove some skin that had died around the incision. Jeremy had another surgery on February 3 to insert an additional drain tube to remove built-up fluid and relieve pressure.

Once Jeremy can be released from the hospital, he will go back to Craig to begin therapy. Therapy will be a minimum of 45 days and Erin will be by his side for the duration.

Jeremy, Erin, Marlee, Peyton and Emmery are so very appreciative of the nurses and doctors who have provided care for Jeremy. They are humbled and tremendously grateful for all of their friends and family who have kept the prayers and positive thoughts coming from all over!!
