The world lost Jeremiah Howard on the afternoon of Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Born July 3, 1980, Jeremiah was many things: a son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend, colleague, neighbor, and dog dad. Above all, he was a proud husband and partner to Amy, as well as a devoted father to his children, Avari (17) and Winn (15), whom he co-parented with their mother, Leah.
When asked to share her reflections about Jeremiah, Amy shared:
He was my best friend, confidant, and the love of my life. There isn't enough space here to capture what a beautiful and multi-faceted man he was.
He was an avid gardener who cared deeply about sustainability, which went hand-in-hand with his passion for food. He loved music and dancing in the kitchen as he cooked. He loved feeding the people he loved.
He did so many things that made our house a home – planted me an orchard for my 37th birthday, spent hours in his workshop building bird houses, garden trellises, dog beds, shelving for our root cellar, and the headboard of our bed. He made me the best lattes every Sunday morning, which I enjoyed as we cuddled on the couch with our dogs, Hank and Pretty, and did the NYT crossword puzzle.
But, more than anything, he loved his kids, Avari and Winn. Anyone who ever witnessed him being a dad knew that they lit him up; he was so proud of the people they were becoming.
As many of us reflect on Jeremiah’s life, I want to emphasize that his death does not define who he was. I urge anyone struggling with their mental health or having thoughts of suicide to reach out for help.
Let us remember Jeremiah for his goodness; may his memory be a blessing and serve as a reminder that we do not have to suffer in silence.
Amy is organizing a Celebration of Life this autumn, where we can come together to honor and celebrate Jeremiah's life.
Additionally, we recognize that death can bring unexpected financial burdens. The funds collected will help alleviate these costs, and any extra contributions will benefit his children, Avari and Winn.
10/13/2025 update:
A dedicated fundraising page has been established, allowing all donations to directly support the ongoing care of Avari and Winn.
Any amount of support is greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
