Hi, I am Caroline Mendl, good friend of the Gassaway’s.

On 2/3/23, Jeremiah was helping prepare dinner in the kitchen when a pot of boiling water fell on him. He was rushed to the local hospital, transferred to Dell Children’s, and then transferred via ambulance again to the burn unit in San Antonio.

He has 2nd degree burns all over his face and body. The doctors think it should heal with minimal scarring, thankfully, but he is in immense pain and on pain meds.

The hospital that houses the burn unit does not accept the Gassaway’s insurance, so they will be paying out of pocket for this.
