Jer was hospitalized suddenly about 10 days ago with extremely high blood pressure and failing kidneys. After many tests and a kidney biopsy they have found he has a condition called thrombotic microangiopathy. This condition causes the capillaries in your organs to become damaged and the kidneys are what is being affected for Jer. They are full of blood clots and causing acute renal failure with his kidneys functioning at only 14%. The specialists in Missoula and Seattle are stumped at what is causing this condition because the normal things that cause TMA Jer does not have. Because if this they cannot treat the TMA until they know what is causing it. They have referred him to UC San Francisco hospital where they have the 3rd best nephrology department to try to solve the mystery.

With this diagnosis and the extensive travel he, his wife Courtney and their 5 children will endure to get answers will be a great expense.
