Jeramie's story: When Jeramie was 22, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After 8 months of chemo and radiation, the cancer was cured! Now, 13 years later, Jeramie has been diagnosed with another cancer: Radiation Induced Sarcoma. One in 10,000 cancer patients develop this rare cancer because of the radiation he received from Hodgkins disease.
Because this cancer is so rare, it can only be treated in one of 5 medical centers in the country. He chose the world-renouned MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. While the prognosis is questionable at best, the doctors are experts and we have complete confidence in them. The treatment plan includes chemotherapy administered over a 5-day period every 3 weeks for 18 weeks.
For the 4 to 6 months of his treatment, he and Debbie (his mom) will reside with me in San Antonio for the two weeks off. However, San Antonio is 3 1/2 hours away from MD Anderson, and the costs associated with staying in Houston are skyrocketing. All of the low and no cost lodging facilities for cancer patients are booked for 6 months, so his only option is staying in local hotels. Between the $5,000 insurance deductable and the $200 a night hotel costs, his ability to receive treatment is becoming difficult.
WIth your support, Jeramie will be able to afford this life-saving treatment. It is also his strong desire to bring his children to Texas for a week to lift his spirits and give him strength.
Your prayers and support are deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
Thank you!
