Many of you know the battle our beloved Jera Brandolino, her husband, Michael, and sons, Justin and Jasper, have been fighting against cancer. This fierce and courageous journey has not only been a physical fight, but it has also caused tremendous emotional and challenging financial burdens for them. We are Jera’s sisters, nieces, and nephews, and we are reaching out because we need your help to help them. Now more than ever!
If you are unaware, Jera and Michael share an epic love that began as college sweethearts. They went their separate ways for a time, but their hearts reunited and brought them back together to raise two amazing sons. Jera’s journey battling cancer began over two decades ago when she fought and miraculously beat stage 4 melanoma cancer. Her family was living a blessed and happy life when the heartbreaking diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis was received during the Thomas Fire in Ventura County, California. Ever a valiant fighter, Jera immediately geared up for the fight! She has had several surgeries, multiple biopsies, extensive radiation, and several rounds of chemotherapy. At every turn, she has been researching advances and new technologies. Jera has assuredly willed herself into clinical trials for newly approved protocols. They have even traveled abroad in search of treatments to continue her fight in every possible way.
It was devastating to learn that her most recent treatment was unsuccessful, but Jera will not give up! Every tomorrow brings an opportunity for holistic therapies and the possibility of another new medical breakthrough.
If you know us, you understand just how important Jera is to our family. As the youngest daughter of five, she has been the cheerleader and joy that can light up a room. No one loves her family more than she does or fights more fiercely to keep her family together. We need to continue to be her cheerleaders. No one can tell a story or make us laugh as hard as she does.
Like many of you, the financial impacts of business closures, furloughs, and layoffs due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been significant for the Brandolinos. Medical treatments for cancer or any chronic illness are costly! With the lost earnings, travel, co-payments, insurance premiums, COBRA payments, and the drastic increase in electric bills to cover the oxygen concentrators running for Jera to be able to breathe, finances are a stressor.
