MEET JEN
JEN IS 29 YEARS OLD, A BRIGHT, VIVACIOUS AND SUPER SMILEY PERSON WHO LOVES LOVES LOVES CROSSFIT AND ANYTHING FITNESS RELATED.
AT 15 YEARS OLD JEN WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER....FOR THE FIRST TIME. AFTER A SINGLE MASTECTOMY AND AGGRESSIVE CHEMOTHERAPY - JEN BEAT THE ODDS AND WON THE FIGHT....
IN 2021 - IT STRUCK AGAIN...YES, IT HAD COME BACK RESULTING IN NOW A DOUBLE MASTECTOMY AND EVEN MORE AGGRESSIVE TREATMENT...BUT THIS SUPERHERO BEAT THE ODDS AND WENT INTO REMISSION FOR A SECONED TIME.
WE THOUGHT THAT WAS IT....SHE CAN NOW CONTINUE ON WITH HER LIFE. ENJOYING TRAINING AND GETTING TO KNOW WEIGHTLIFTING THROUGH THE COACHING AND COMMUNITY OF ASCENSION TRAINING...
STRUCK WITH ANOTHER THUNDERBOLT IN FEBRUARY 2023 - THE CANCER HAD RETURNED. AFTER MONTHS OF CHEMO & IMMUNOTHERAPY TREATMENT, SURGERY IS NOT AN OPTION...THIS TIME THERE'S NOTHING MORE THAT CAN BE DONE AND THE CANCER IS SPREADING.
OUR DEAREST JEN IS FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT ALL THE WAY TO THE END.
JOIN US AS WE HOST A FUNDRAISING EVENT LIKE NO OTHER TO SEND JEN ON THAT ONCE IN A LIFETIME TRIP - CREATING JOY AND MEMORIES THAT WE ALL WISH WE COULD HAVE THE COURAGE TO TAKE.
JEN HAS CREATED A BUCKET LIST OF THINGS SHE WANTS TO SEE AND DO, IN THE UK AND ABROAD...OUR GOAL IS TO TICK OFF AS MANY OF THOSE THINGS AS POSSIBLE WHILE WE STILL CAN.
WE HAVE SET UP A GOFUNDME PAGE FOR JEN, BUT IF YOU ARE ABLE TO SPONSOR AN OUTING OR EVENT THAT PERHAPS YOU HAVE TICKETS TO, CONTACT WITH, THESE DONATIONS ARE ALSO GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.
"Sometimes we get dealt a shit hand but it’s still up to us what we do with that hand.
I’m incredibly lucky to have had the opportunities I’ve had in my life but days like today serve as a reminder that I still have so much more to get out of the world.
Throughout my treatment I’ve managed to travel, improve my fitness, work in a meaningful job and smile most days. But treatment also broke me behind the scenes. I put so many parts of my life on hold for ‘after treatment’ as if I was sure that time would come. I’ve had days where I couldn’t move, days sleeping on the bathroom floor and days crippled by pains that I never knew existed.
Well, today reminded me that we don’t always get to decide our fate so maybe in this round of new treatment, on the days that I can, I’ll live a little more, love a little harder and travel a little further.
So for anyone sitting on the fence at the moment:
Love somebody? Tell them
Want to climb a mountain? Climb that motherfucker
Fancy living abroad? Ciao, adios - your new life awaits
Sick of your day job? Bin it off and chase something special (you know who you are)
Want more downtime? Work the 9-5, clock out and get down the pub with your friends
Want a snickers before bed but worried about the calories? EAT THE FUCKING SNICKERS
Take it from me, life is too short ✌️"
