Support Jen’s Concussion Recovery Care

Hi!

My name is Jazz-Ylaine. I have known Jen for over a decade. We met in a Mentorship program for Yoga as a Transformative Life Skill for Youth back in 2009. Jen and I connected in yoga, as well as, both being dancers. Our friendship grew closer when we both were preparing to start our families, pregnant at the same time. Our children are less than six months apart and have grown up as friends from the womb. Jen and her daughter are like family to us. More than anything, we hope and desire for Jen to live a full life in optimal health, where she is able to enjoy big and small moments with family and friends.

In February of 2021 Jen experienced a concussion and whiplash injury that unfortunately has been life altering and still affects her daily. She suffers regularly from headaches, neck pain, dizziness, difficulty moving her head and neck, adrenal fatigue, as well as, cognitive challenges and a reduced capacity to manage stress. Some days she’s able to move through the world in a way that no one would ever know anything was wrong, but other days it can be quite debilitating.

After 2.5 years of paying out of pocket for 95% of her health providers she has found herself in a challenging financial situation. As a single Mom in the Bay Area with reduced capacity for earning an income, you can imagine how difficult this is.

She has accepted that she will never be the same again, but she remains hopeful that she will continue to improve in meaningful ways that will reduce her suffering and improve the quality of her life.

She has found a fantastic chiropractor that she benefits from when she is able to see him weekly or bimonthly. Recently, she found the Bay Area Brain Spa which has a wide variety of treatments that has been really helpful for others dealing with post concussion symptoms and brain injuries.

For her birthday, my fellow Leo Sister, let’s come together and show her some love and care! We all need support at different times in our lives and this is a time where we really need to show up for her. Please consider donating any amount and sharing this with your network to help expand the reach!

Another way to support her is to keep your eyes and ears open for potential job opportunities. Jen is an Embodiment Coach, Yoga Therapist and Somatic Dance Instructor who helps people get back in touch with their body’s innate wisdom so they can live a more fulfilling life feeling less stuck in their heads. If you know anyone who is looking to restore a healthy connection to their body and better manage their stress, consider referring them to her. Or if you hear of any part or full time jobs for Yoga Therapists or Mind/Body Coaches please share the info with her. She also has some experience managing yoga studios.

Jen is such a giver! Asking for help to her community, and even outside of her inner circle and village is a big step outside of her comfort zone. In truth, vulnerability is a super power. Jen is one of the strongest and most resilient people I know who faces the world daily with silent pain and dis-ease. Let’s lift Jen up in such a way that she is held and supported and knows that she can rest and restore while receiving the recovery care she deserves!

Thank each and everyone of you in advance!
