Last week, Jenoveva, who is one of my best friends in this world, called me from the hospital and told me something I never thought I would hear. She has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, just a couple days after celebrating her 40th birthday.
It is going to be a rough road ahead between chemo and lots of appointments, but the doctors are optimistic for Jeno’s future.
I know she will be facing serious medical bills and medication costs and after much persuasion from several of her closest friends, I’m here to tell Jenoveva’s story and humbly ask for assistance for her and her family on this long journey she has ahead.
Jeno is a stay-at-home mom and has been for many years, however she has always been a VERY active volunteer in her community, as well as at her church, the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgen of Guadalupe. She was employed by the parish about a year ago, since she practically lived there!
Jenoveva is surrounded by so many people that love and will be by her side to support her. Her household is full of love, and lots and lots of bodies to tend to! (Which if you know Jeno, she goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is well and catered too!) She has a wonderful husband, Enrique Castillo, who is her backbone and is by her side helping her get thru this and is ready to step in and be “mom and dad” while Jeno is getting treatment. Jeno is mother to two young adults, which now have families of their own, as well as a lovely fourteen-year-old daughter Cesi and her ten-year-old son. Enrique is a self-contractor, which means no insurance through an employer.
Jeno has been approved for emergency Medicaid and this will cover her current hospital stay, as well as the chemo, however the radiation costs that commence after her last chemo treatment will be an out-of-pocket expense.
You may know Jenoveva, or you just may know me, and if you know me you know how incredible a person and friend this woman is! She’s always there for me in my darkest times and now I’m here to uplift and help her through this fight. Please donate, share and spread the word of Jenoveva’s story.
