Jenny’s funeral and support for Andy

It is with great sadness that I am announcing the loss of Jenny Ly on February 10, 2023. At 24 years of age, this was a sudden loss that no one was prepared for but can only hope Jenny's at peace with.

Anyone who’s met Jenny knows what a beautiful, funny and dorky ray of sunshine she was. She lit up every room she walked in with her cute and bubbly personality that always put a smile on your face.

Two years ago Jenny suffered from a severe stroke. Through her strength and resolve, Jenny awoke from her coma and recovered enough to come home in December 2021. However due to the damage she suffered, she was dependent on a ventilator and had limited physical mobility.

Andy, Jenny’s selfless other half, quit his job to be with her every single day while she was in the hospital. When Jenny came home, Andy became her full-time caregiver. Andy dispensed her meds, fed, bathed, changed, and supported her with rehab. Despite the challenges and sleepless nights, Andy persevered because he only wanted Jenny to be happy. Jenny and Andy worked hard to fulfill Jenny’s goal of recovering basic abilities we take for granted like breathing, eating and walking.

Over the last two years, some costs were not covered by OHIP or benefits such as daily living expenses, medical supplies, and custom medical equipment. These items that improved Jenny’s quality of life have added up and depleted Andy’s savings causing a major financial strain as he was Jenny’s full-time caregiver.

With the devastating loss of Jenny, Jenny’s family now have to grieve and live on without their daughter and sister, and Andy without the love of his life.
