Jenny's Emergency Moving Adventure
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jenny. In March of this year, the ceiling of my apartment started to leak. I spent weeks with every pot and pan I owned collecting the nasty brown liquid that was raining down in my home. I had to tarp over my belongings and work around it. My building manager is very nice but not the owner. The owners do not seem to care all that much about the tenant's conditions. At one point, the water came through the smoke detector setting it off. Maintenance came and removed it. They NEVER put it back. They never repaired the water damage to my ceiling. Other tenants have had to live under similar conditions but that, my friends, is not what pushed me over the edge.
It was last month when they finally started the roof repairs. Now we are living with bugs, mold, and what I am pretty sure is asbestos (it is a 100-year-old building), raining down in the space between the walls. I can tolerate a lot. I have been slowly saving to move since the leaking started but now we have roaches, bed bugs, spiders, mold, and like I said, pretty sure there is asbestos. So I am here, hat in hand, asking you to help me accelerate my move. My original plan had been to save over the next 6 - 9 months but with the conditions as they are, I am getting eaten alive, I feel nauseous all the time, and I am unable to sleep for more than a few minutes at a time due to my anxiety. I am asking for assistance so that I can move out of here. I hope you will consider donating, this could help me keep from getting very, very sick. Thank you all and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day! Love, Jenny
