Help Jeni Haynes make New Memories - Jeni'sArmy

Jeni was sexually, physically and emotionally abused by her father as a child, from the ages of 4 to 11. The physical damage caused to her required extensive surgery. The emotional damage resulted in 20 years of psychotherapy, which still continues today.

Jeni has Multiple Personality Disorder, now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder, where a person’s identity is split into a number of distinct personality states called ‘alters’.

It is common for those who have this personality disorder to have been severely abused at a young age, like Jeni was, and to have developed multiple personalities as a mechanism to cope with the traumatic experience. Victims design the multiple personalities as a way to disconnect and separate themselves from the trauma.

When Jeni testified against her father in February 2019, her case established a worldwide legal precedent. Her multiple personalities were allowed to give evidence. Her father, Richard Haynes, was extradited from the UK in 2017, convicted in 2019, and is due to be sentenced later this year.

Jeni says: "The impact of my dad's offending has had far reaching effects and the ramifications have destroyed my life. He has sent a wrecking ball through my hopes and dreams."

The abuse destroyed her childhood and devastated her employability. Her father has killed her chances of ever having a romantic sexual relationship with men. "I've paid an enormous price for his depraved sexual desires" says Jeni.

Jeni exists on a disability pension. She has limited mobility. Her modest compensation paid for a mobility kitchen so she can have a measure of independence at home. She lives with her mother who tries to survive on the age pension.

Jeni's psychiatrist has counselled her to create new memories, new memories to replace a life of traumatic memories and her negative body image.

New memories could be created by travel, by surgery, by new residential circumstances.

Jeni's psychiatrist has suggested travel as a gateway to her healing, as a way to create new memories.

Jeni's dearest wish is to be able to reclaim Christmas, New Years and her Birthday in January. This time of year was absolutely horrendous for Jeni. Her father was home  and he abused her mercilessly every single year for 14 years. He destroyed her ability to enjoy the festive season and birthdays.

Where all of us enjoy the festive season and see it a time of fun, pleasure, something to look forward to, Jeni hates and fears the festive season as she knows it will be a time of pain, fear, terror, flashbacks and body memories. The memories of what her monster father did to her at this time of year overwhelm Jeni so much that she becomes suicidal.

If she  could afford to go on holiday she could use that to reclaim this time of year. She could build new memories, and a new way of experiencing the Festive season. She could start her new life afresh with good memories of the season.

If we can raise $10,000 Jeni could have the holiday of a lifetime, being in the ancient city of TROY on Christmas Day, and in CAPPADOCIA for New Years and in either EGYPT or BARCELONA for her birthday. We could give Jeni new and positive memories. Can you help Jeni?
