Welcome to Jenn’s Journey and Thank You for clicking the link to support.
We are Jenn’s Crew; Erica, Ronda, Kate and Tenneil. Our goal is to do everything we can to generate financial support for Jenn over the course of her journey with Multiple Myeloma.
Jenn’s Story:
Where to begin… Jenn is a Single Mom, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and incredible friend to all…but that is only a fraction. Her smile, laughter, energy and optimism are contagious. She is just 'that human' which everyone gravitates towards because she is so welcoming. As soon as you meet her you are immediately like “yes, we are friends for life”. Or, in our case, so grateful to call her our chosen family.
Jenn is the proud Mom of 2 wonderful, witty, adorable and loving children. Her son Parker is 10 and her daughter Reese is 9. These two beautiful souls are her WORLD, and she is theirs.
In addition to being an amazing Mom, Jenn is a true entrepreneur and philanthropist who against all odds has built a business which fills her soul and drives her passion to support local charities and help promote other local businesses.
Her company Smash House Clothing, like many during the past 2 years, has suffered incredible hardships. Despite these challenges, she has continued to push through the adversity. Jenn has provided and continues to provide inspiration to many that anything is possible.
Approximately 5 short years ago Jenn was diagnosed with Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS). It is a rare blood disorder and uncommon in younger people. This condition focuses on the abnormal presence of M Protein in your blood. Though untreatable, this condition carries a 1% chance of progressing to Smouldering Multiple Myeloma (SMM) or Multiple Myeloma (MM) which is then staged at 1,2 or 3. Since her the MGUS diagnosis, Jenn has received a series of tests and reviews with her doctors over the years.
On Feb 1st, 2022, Jenn received information which has now changed the trajectory of her life.
She met with her doctor for an annual review of her MGUS blood work. To much surprise the doctor calmy informed her that she in fact has fallen into the 1% of those who their blood disorder progresses to CANCER.
Yes, CANCER.
To say that this was overwhelming news is an understatement. She was given immediate instruction to return the following morning for a Bone Marrow Biopsy, followed up by several other blood tests, urine collections, PET-CT scan and full skeletal x-rays over the past 2 weeks.
With so much unknown hanging in the balance awaiting the completed test results and noticeable symptoms of extreme fatigue, weight loss, lack of appetite, general pain, etc., her family and friends were quite concerned as to what the full prognosis would be.
This brings us to Feb 16th, 2022, when Jenn received her full prognosis; Stage 2 Multiple Myeloma. The Cancer Center is wasting no time and Jenn’s treatment plan will commence immediately Feb 22nd ,2022.
It includes Chemotherapy for the next 4 months followed by a Stem Cell Transplant (possibly 2) at Princess Margaret.
Unfortunately, there is no known cure for Multiple Myeloma at this present time. However, we remain very positive and optimistic that Jenn’s treatments will be successful in managing her Cancer and provide her and her children with several years full of love and adventure.
The next 12-18 months, at a minimum, are going to be very intense. In addition to the expected physical and emotional challenges that come along with fighting Cancer, there’s also an insurmountable amount of financial stress. During the initial stage of treatment Jenn will be very limited in her ability to work. Once she enters the phase of preparing for her stem cell transplant, she will be unable to work at all. At this moment there’s no set time frame for how long this will be the case.
With that said her unwavering positive attitude, courage, strength and bravery as she prepares for this journey is outstanding and truly inspirational.
She is on a mission to beat this. She is ready.
We have set this up to help cover the costs of rent, basic necessities, treatment expenses that are not covered by insurance and additional expenses related to supporting her journey. With your support we can help relieve her of the financial pressures which comes along with fighting cancer. Anything and everything will help. We are forever grateful.
