Jenn’s Brain Tumor Surgery

In feb. of 2018 Jenn moved back to her hometown Spooner with her fiance Matt. In June of that year Matt & Jenn got married.

In the spring of 2020 they decided to sell their home and build their retirement home. They spent the summer of 2020 doing that and doing the majority of the work themselves.

Brain Tumor. The two words no one wants to hear. On July 22nd 2021 Jenn was diagnosed with a brain tumor called acoustic Neuroma, also called Vestibular Schwannoma. An acoustic Neuroma is a non-cancerous tumor that develops on the balance and hearing nerve leading from the brain to the inner ear. as the tumor grows, it puts pressure on the brainstem and brain; it does not grow into the brain. Jenn's tumor is large enough that its pressing on the brainstem and its on important nerves for face and balance etc. It is causing many symptoms, balance issues, headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, head pressure and numbness on left side of face and mouth.

Jenn will need to undergo surgery at ST. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. with two specialized surgeons and their team. The surgery will take a minimum of 8 hours, could be longer depending on the location of the tumor. surgeons have to carefully scrape the tumor off the nerves and brainstem.

after surgery she will have significant balance issues which will reduce her mobility and ability to drive for awhile. by having the surgery it will reduce headaches, improve balance, decrease head pressure, Improve cognitive functions. unfortunately Jenn will lose total hearing in her left ear, they are unable to save the hearing.

Anticipated recovery pending all is well, 12 weeks. We are praying for the best possible outcome. Jenn does know the emotional, physical and financial strain this diagnosis is and will have on her. We are asking for help to relieve some of that stress and worry so that she can focus on her recovery.

On October 2nd 2021 Matt and Jenn will be hosting a benefit at their home. There will be a spaghetti feed, $6 a plate, bake sale, wagon rides, petting zoo with their farm animals, and other prizes. Your donations will go towards Jenn's lost wages, medical bills, insurance premiums and help with Matt being able to stay in Rochester while Jenn is recovering after surgery.
